Coder/Clinical Coding Documentation Analyst
Job Location: Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, Pawtucket, RI


Primary Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Clinical Coding Documentation Specialist the Coder/Clinical Coding Documentation Analyst performs a complete medical record review of all inpatient, one day surgery, observation and other outpatient medical records and assigns ICD-9-CM and/or CPT codes in accordance with coding and reimbursement guidelines. Performs concurrent coding reviews and interacts with physicians to obtain documentation clarification to ensure complete and accurate clinical coding documentation to achieve complaint diagnosis and procedure code assignment.

Qualifications:
Must possess a minimum of three to five years of hospital coding experience, with an in-depth knowledge of coding/classification systems, inpatient and outpatient prospective payment systems (MS-DRG AP DRG, APR DRG and APC). Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Certification as a CCS or RHIA/RHIT with coding experience, required.
