Coding Validator - Part Time
Job Location: Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, Pawtucket, RI


Primary Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Clinical Documentation Specialist the Coding Validator performs quality reviews of records coded by the coding staff. Validates the ICD-9-CM/CPT codes, clinical documentation, DRG and APC assignment appropriateness to ensure compliance with the Official Coding Guidelines, regulatory requirements, quality reporting, and claims processing.

Qualifications:
Must possess a minimum of five years coding experience with an in-depth knowledge of coding/classification systems, inpatient and outpatient prospective payment systems (MS-DRG, AP DRG, APR DRG and APC) , coding review experience in ICD-9-CM/CPT and claims processing. Ability to communicate effectively with other professional coders. Certification as a RHIA, RHIT or CCS required.
