HIM Coder needed
Facility: Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton MA
Department: Health Information Services
- Full-time - 40 Hours; 8a-4:30p; Monday-Friday; Holidays & Wknd as needed
- Day shift
Description of Work: Abstract and assign diagnoses and procedure codes for the medical records of discharged patients, including inpatients, day surgery, observation, and outpatient records using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 classification systems and 3M encoder software for DRG determination. Demonstrates a good understanding of MS-DRG and APC assignment and reimbursement and assists in reconciling coding and billing issues. Supports and exemplifies the hospital established CARE Values and Standards of behavior.

Qualifications: CCS required, RHIT preferred
Must be a graduate of an AHIMA Accredited Coding Program.
Passing of a Coding Test is required and 1-3 years of hospital coding experience is needed.
